The concept of a Mickey Mouse watch was born in 1932, when a purchaser for Montgomery Ward proposed to Disney's marketing mastermind, Kay Kamen, that a wrist watch with Mickey on the dial would be a big hit. Kamen then requested initial drawings from Disney artists and delivered them to the Ingersoll-Waterbury Company. On May 22, 1933, an application for a U.S. patent was processed, as well as the initial watches moved into manufacturing.
